When a pair of jeans is restocked, it’s important to remember that the new batch is manufactured and washed again—it isn’t coming from the exact same production run as the original.
Denim goes through multiple washing, dyeing, and finishing processes to create its final color and look. Because of this, there can be minor variations from one production batch to another. A restocked pair may come in slightly lighter or darker than the original batch, and distressing or wash details can vary a little too.
We’ve personally seen restocks arrive both lighter and darker than previous shipments of the exact same style number. This is a normal part of denim manufacturing and doesn’t mean anything is wrong with the jeans.
Think of it a little like hair color—using the same formula can produce a slightly different result depending on the starting material and processing conditions.
If you’re replacing a favorite pair with the same style, just keep in mind that the new production run may not be an exact color match to your original pair. 💕
